The Fred Astaire Trophy System
Our Conceptual Method of Teaching
Fred Astaire Dance Studios has developed the most efficient system of teaching ballroom dancing in the world. There are numerous aspects of learning to dance such as patterns, footwork, timing and rhythm, partnership, animation, character of the dance, and confidence. To learn these qualities quickly, we have created a unique method of instruction called the "Conceptual Method of Teaching". You'll soon find out how this method will make dancing fun, enjoyable, easy and faster to learn.
Group Dance Lessons (Material Lessons)
These were designed to reduce the cost of lessons by teaching certain aspects of dancing to a group of students at one time. A regular schedule of Group Dance Lessons is maintained to cover every level of dancing advancement as well as each of the dances. One Group Hour should be used for every hour of individual instruction, except specified times. Read more about the Benefits of Group Dance Lessons
A student is introduced and begins learning the essentials of dancing: footwork, style, balance, control, character and technique. These lessons save students time and money since this material can be taught in a group environment as quickly as it can in a private lesson.
Individual Lessons (Development Lessons)
When Group Dance Lessons offer many advantages, the value and necessity of personal attention given through the Individual Lesson is essential and cannot be minimized. Group Dance Lessons provide the mechanics of dancing, but the artistry of dancing is perfected during the Individual Lesson. Read more about the Benefits of Private Lessons
Skills acquired from the Group Dance Lessons are further enhanced and developed by the students in order for them to gain more expression, confidence, animation and personal style. By dancing the figures in various combinations in this lesson format, a higher degree of balance, control, rhythm and coordination is also developed.
Studio Parties and Practice Sessons
The school parties and practice sessions are the ideal place for a student to test his new dance steps with a partner other than his teacher. It is here that the student first begins to feel like a dancer -- that he is having fun with his dancing and is gaining new confidence. Dance demonstration and exhibitions by teachers and students are performed. Read about our Parties
